Find answers to common questions about booking through this service and collecting a vehicle in Mauritius.
You search, compare offers from local suppliers, and reserve online. An advance payment is charged to your card when you complete the booking. Within hours you receive a voucher by email with the supplier's contact details, pick-up instructions, and the outstanding balance payable on collection. The voucher is your confirmation - print it or save it on your phone.
Bring your voucher, a valid driving licence held for at least one year, passport, and the credit or debit card used for the booking advance. If your licence is not in English or French, an International Driving Permit is often required. Check your voucher for the exact list - suppliers vary slightly.
Cancellation and amendment terms depend on the rate you chose and are spelled out in your voucher. Most bookings allow free cancellation up to 48 hours before pick-up; shorter-notice changes may incur a fee. Contact us by email at [email protected] with your booking reference, and we'll forward the request to the supplier.
Most suppliers in Mauritius require drivers to be at least 21 years old and to have held a licence for one year. Certain vehicle categories - larger SUVs or premium models - may have a higher minimum age of 23 or 25. Young-driver supplements sometimes apply. Your voucher will confirm the rules for your specific booking.
Full-to-full is standard: you collect the vehicle with a full tank and return it full. Stations are easy to find - Engen, Shell, and Total have forecourts on the M1 motorway and in every town. Keep your final fuel receipt in case the supplier asks for it at drop-off. Pre-purchase fuel policies are uncommon here.
Most offers include unlimited kilometres, which makes sense on an island where Port Louis to Mahebourg is only 45 km and a coastal loop rarely exceeds 200 km in a day. If a rate does cap mileage, the limit and any per-kilometre charge will appear clearly in the search results and on your voucher.
Third-party liability cover and basic collision-damage waiver are included in the rates you see. The level of excess, additional coverage options, and any waivers are detailed in your voucher. Conditions vary by supplier and rate package, so always read the voucher before you travel. The rental company will explain the cover when you collect the keys.
Rodrigues is 600 km east and reachable only by air or ferry; taking a rental vehicle on the ferry is not permitted under standard agreements. Ile aux Cerfs and other day-trip islets have no roads. If you plan inter-island travel, arrange separate vehicle hire on Rodrigues through a local supplier there.
Your voucher lists the supplier's direct contact number for breakdowns, accidents, or questions about the vehicle. They are your first point of call during the rental. For billing or booking queries, email us at [email protected] and we'll assist. Our office hours are Monday to Sunday, 8:00 - 18:00 GMT+4.
